CONTEMPORARY FINE ART GALLERY AND ART CONSULTANTS, LIZAMORE & ASSOCIATES, PRIDES THEMSELVES IN SHOWCASING THE VERY BEST CONTEMPORARY ART FROM EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED SOUTH AFRICAN ARTISTS. THE LIZAMORE & ASSOCIATES TEAM IS LEAD BY ACCLAIMED GALLERIST, TERESA LIZAMORE.

About Us

Established in 2001 by Teresa Lizamore, Lizamore & Associates gallery has been showing the work of new, as well as established contemporary South African artists for 15 years. Through devotion to consistent excellence, Lizamore & Associates are exploring transformative possibilities through contemporary art.

Lizamore & Associates hosts a number of exhibitions with their family of artists, new artists and will be presenting exciting new projects. Lizamore & Associates gallery takes the view that by showing a considered combination of exhibitions of the work of more established names, as well as carefully selected new voices, the gallery can promote new prospects to collectors, while still serving the growing market of buyers who look for the sound investment opportunities presented by more known artists. The gallery hosts a comfortable mix of solo and group exhibitions of established artists who it has been working with for 15 years and longer while it continues to provide key opportunities for new contemporary talent. Artists who the gallery regularly works with include Benon Lutaaya, Karin Preller, Louis Olivier, Lehlogonolo Mashaba, Ruhan Janse van Vuuren, Judy Woodborne, Justin Dingwall, Kilmany-Jo Liversage, Mandy Coppes-Martin and others.

Lizamore & Associates gallery is also actively involved in a number of art projects. In 2011 Lizamore & Associates launched its first large scale project in the form of Ik Ben Een Afrikander. What began as a critically acclaimed group exhibition exploring the controversy of Afrikaner identity, has since grown into a project that has had two further exhibitions respectively shown at the KKNK (which was nominated for a KANNA Award) and at the Stellenbosch Word Fest, both in 2012. A publication exposing the work of the artists with commentary written by the political journalist Mandy Rossouw has since been published. The Ik Ben Een Afrikander project shows continuous growth, with a national touring museum exhibition which is currently taking place.

The gallery was also involved in showing Rand Merchant Bank’s (where Teresa Lizamore is currently curator) art collection at the Aardklop Arts Festival in 2013. At this same festival they also showed Jaco Sieberhagen’s critically acclaimed exhibition, The Carnival, no dogs allowed. Lizamore & Associates also hosts their annual Mentorship Programme. Operating since 2008, this programme sees artists given the invaluable opportunity to work under the mentorship of an established artist towards a solo exhibition. The programme is designed to allow artists who are ready to enter the market at a professional level, the opportunity to have their first solo contemporary commercial gallery exhibition, and gain the insights of professional mentors who have forged long career paths themselves.

The SA Taxi Foundation Art Award was launced in 2014 and Lizamore and Associates as project managers have secured this competition for a further two years.  The objective of this competition is to allow new artists to present artworks based on design and fine art with a selection of finalists whose works are transported onto taxis which travel the country.
